For over thirty years, a massive Python infestation in the Florida Everglades and surrounding areas has been largely ignored, allowing the Burmese python to establish itself as the apex predator and systematically devastate the region's natural wildlife populations.
Over the past decade, wildlife management has shifted toward more aggressive population control, yet current efforts fundamentally lack an understanding of what they are actually dealing with. Relying on gimmicks like $4,000 solar-powered robotic rabbits and small-scale basket traps is entirely inadequate for controlling massive, 15- to 25-foot fully grown pythons capable of developing and laying over 100 eggs a year.
At Nagel Engineering & Development, we have devised a full-size python trap designed to capture the largest invasive species in Florida. Called the S-Trap, it is engineered to securely contain the largest pythons in existence—ensuring that as these apex predators grow to sizes capable of posing a direct threat to human populations, heavy-duty infrastructure is ready to contain them.
Built using a fully reusable and extremely scalable design adapted from traditional ranch gates, the manufacturing model avoids the need for major industrial involvement. Instead, blueprints can be distributed immediately to the tri-state 4-H community, high school trade shops, and local ranches.
With state collaboration and support, we can immediately begin manufacturing and deploying these traps across Florida to eradicate one of the most devastating wildlife infestations in American history before the threat escalates further.
